Project Details
Every Life is Important - Access to timely and affordable healthcare remains a significant challenge in many rural and peri-urban areas. The lack of adequate ambulance services and medical transportation often delays critical treatment, increases healthcare costs, and in some cases, results in the loss of precious lives.
In line with its commitment to improving community well-being and valuing every life, the Bank has designed and implemented a project to strengthen healthcare infrastructure by supporting hospitals with ambulances and essential medical equipment .
The initiative aims to improve accessibility to healthcare services, particularly for underserved and remote communities. By providing vehicle and equipment support, hospitals have been able to expand their emergency medical services, respond more effectively to critical cases, and offer affordable healthcare transportation to patients in need.
Investing in ambulance services is an investment in saving lives and improving health outcomes. The project ensures that individuals, irrespective of their location, can access timely medical assistance and emergency healthcare services when they need them most.
The initiative has already created meaningful impact:
- A ventilator-equipped ambulance, the first of its kind in Bagalkot, has significantly strengthened emergency healthcare services and is benefiting approximately 18.8 lakh people across the region.
- The service has significantly reduced the financial burden on patients and their families.
- The ambulance facility ensures dignified patient transport, from critical care referrals to compassionate end-of-life journeys.
- Strengthened referral transport capabilities now connect critically ill patients to super-specialty hospitals across multiple states.
