Project Details
Prevention is better than cure – with this as the premise the bank has designed Dhanvantari - a flagship project of the bank with an endeavour to create awareness on good health for the underprivileged communities, typically gig and domestic support (maids, drivers, security guards etc.) forming a large part of the informal economy, at their work location. With a though to create awareness and enable people to act on time and thereby reduce the expenses of a household before a bigger heath crisis strikes, essentially eroding savings of entire family or invariably bringing them in the vicious debt trap.
This project endeavours to bridge the gap in accessing preventive healthcare to identify any present or existing health issues enabling people from humble economic backgrounds a window into their health condition. Spectacles are provided on a case-to-case basis on spot. From the people tested, 63.31% were reportedly sole bread winners. Thus, any negative health impact arising out of lack of awareness of their underlying health conditions could adversely impact the wellbeing of the entire family. 9,000+ beneficiaries became aware of their impaired vision issues for the first time and were supported with reading glasses to improve their day-to-day life activities.
